National Nutrition Week— Are you getting enough Ubiquinol?

During this National Nutrition Week from 13th October to 19th October—we discuss the benefits of Ubiquinol in comparison to CoQ10 supplements, how much you need for optimal health, as well as how you can get more of Ubiquinol in your diet.

While Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) also known as Ubiquinone is a nutrient found in every cell of the body and is vital for providing cellular energy –Ubiquinol is the active antioxidant form that is responsible for the powerful benefits associated with CoQ10.

Ubiquinol has a superior bioavailability compared to ordinary CoQ10 supplements and is 3-8 times more absorbable than CoQ10—making it a more effective form with superior efficacy.

Here are the main benefits of Ubiquinol:

  • Supports healthy energy synthesis
  • Helps maintain a healthy cardiovascular system and maintenance of healthy LDL cholesterol levels in healthy people
  • May benefit people experiencing increased oxidative stress as occurs with normal healthy ageing
  • Help maintain and support sperm health, sperm motility and sperm production

As we age, our body’s natural concentration of CoQ10 decreases, beginning around the age of 30, and sooner if you are physically active. This can lead to decreased energy levels and place your body under more strain, as it has less energy reserves to help your body run at peak performance.

So how do you know if you’re getting enough Ubiquinol in your diet?

To help build your body’s Ubiquinol levels and increase energy production, the standard recommended dosage to help build your body’s Ubiquinol levels is 100mg-300mg a day. To achieve the minimum dose, one would need to eat:

  • 4kg of red meat
  • 7kg of chicken
  • 6kg of peanuts
  • 50 cups of spinach
  • 120 cans of sardines

Unless you’re consuming all of this, it’s unlikely you’re getting enough Ubiquinol in your diet.

You can, however, supplement with Ubiquinol in a capsule form each day, to reach recommended daily amounts and assist in energy production, heart support, ageing and sperm health.

Ubiquinol is available through leading Australian nutritional supplementation brands. Ask your healthcare practitioner if Ubiquinol supplementation may be suitable for you.

Always read the label. Use only as directed. If symptoms persist consult your healthcare practitioner.
