Heart Health Benefits of Ubiquinol

A new year means new beginnings and a new approach to health. Find out how to make 2019 a healthy year for your heart.

Ubiquinol, also known as Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in nearly every cell of our body. It has many benefits, including helping to fight the causes of ageing, including free radicals and the effects of a poor diet, lack of exercise and various external factors such as pollution and stress.

As we get older, our Ubiquinol levels decline, which means we’re less equipped to fight these free radicals, and as a result, our bodies become more vulnerable to age-related illnesses.

Of Ubiquinol’s many benefits, its main help is to our heart and its health.[i] A randomised, double-blind trial found that taking Ubiquinol supplements improve heart health and could reduce the risk of dying from heart-related diseases by almost half.[ii]

Should I take Ubiquinol?

If you’re over the age of 30, a daily Ubiquinol supplement can help to maintain the energy levels your body needs to support good health.

For those who take statins to help control cholesterol levels, Ubiquinol may help counteract any damage can occur from this medication. While statins can help reduce your risk of heart disease, the drug reduces your body’s store of CoQ10. If you have a predisposition to heart disease, or you are one of the 2.8 million Australians taking statin medication for high LDL cholesterol levels, then speak to your doctor about Ubiquinol supplementation.

While you’re writing your New Year’s resolutions, don’t forget to make a vow to improve your eating habits. Ubiquinol is found in spinach and red meat, although you can supplement your intake to help achieve your daily required levels, and keep your heart and body healthy and happy.
